Unless my mom or dad recently signed up for HN, I'm not terribly interested in any of this paternalistic (and patronizing) advice on how I should spend my life and time.

I didn't do any of that. Read closer.

Considering on-topic is "anything hackers find interesting," a complaint that something is not interesting is a complaint that something isn't appropriate for the site.

I think you've seized too tightly to the word 'interesting' here. He was rejecting the advice as too paternalistic. And after reading the blog, I think that's pretty reasonable, even as I find myself agreeing somewhat with the blog.

"I'm not terribly interested in following this advice" is a lot different from "this advice is not appropriate for the site." Rejecting something doesn't mean it wasn't relevant.

Again, read closer. I did not complain that it wasn't interesting. I said I wasn't interested [in considering] such advice. The use of the same root word is only interesting (uh oh) to those in the business of equivocation fallacies.

If you are not interested in it, then you find it not interesting. If you found it interesting, you'd be interested in it.

This is the least interesting conversation I've ever had.

> If you are not interested in it, then you find it not interesting.

Equivocation fallacy. Can't say you weren't warned.

> This is the least interesting conversation I've ever had.

It's difficult to have an interesting conversation with people in so much of a hurry to misunderstand what's being said.

Wrong again, my friend.

At no point did I claim you were wrong simply -because- you used a fallacy. I had other, better, reasons for that. You are bad at this and I've become bored.

So why comment?

Louis, Son, Is that you?
