I think this is a good point, but it runs into some particular problems when dealing with software, in particular open source software, where there is no direct relationship between the person creating the software and the person using it - in fact, it's not automatically true that the person creating the software knows anything at all about who is using it.



We can only make certain that our individual contributions are ethical, correct, and secure. It helps a little to assuage those particular fears, I think.
