I know a few senior engineers / manager types who left financial services tech to work at Amazon. Most of them left within two years, and the ones that stayed quickly got out of AWS org because it was too crushing.

In a way I kind of respect Amazon for treating their white collar tech staff as poorly as their blue collar warehouse staff.
