Yeah it feels very much like that to me too. Taking that a step further, it wouldn't surprise me if it were orchestrated by the people that will be at the helm on this sort of shit if it's implemented.

When we have TLA's subverting security, megacorps sucking up information and leaving it open to attack, manufacturers baking in backdoors etc... I would run an absolute mile from being a developer in this new world.
