I don't get it. The blog post is about failing multiple Google interviews, then complaining that the process is good enough for you, then saying Google isn't your "dream job" anymore?

How is this different than the old, "I didn't want to go to your stupid birthday party anyway!"??

Maybe I missed something in the post but I was hoping to read about someone who had actually worked at Google before criticizing it..

I somewhat agree - but given that no meaningful piece of software has ever shipped without bugs being punted (and bugs that weren't even known about), when is there really time to add an easter egg?

Just gotta say this is a strange outcome of our technological developments.. I mean think of the energy that was spent making this work - it could've been done doing something.. I dunno fucking useful?!

It's almost as bad as watching two "grown-ups" play Street Fighter lol.

this exercise is useful.

1) the creators had a chance to learn/practice their favorite libraries and languages -- computer vision is hugely useful and applicable to nearly all domains.

2) the creators got spectators to think about the technologies involved, possibly motivating some to learn about them, and undoubtedly teaching a few people about things they didn't know the concepts behind. (computer vision. hell, check the comments on HN, a few of us didn't know how it worked and were thus elucidated.)

What have you done to benefit the world?

Golf, yacht sailing, cycling.

Don't forget the cocaine!

VB?! Modern languages that are simple (like JS, Python) make more sense to me.

VB is a bit old and outdated at this point, I think.

(btw, my handle is not related to this site)

I would say equal rights should be at the top of the list, yes.

Even for a special "hacker community".

So it's not just me... the whole thing seems quite hard to understand, and somewhat full of hot air?

Re: terminating a job, in many states employment can be legally terminated without reason (both by the employer and the employee).

See "at will employment".

Even in cases where you are terminated for no reason, you have recourse for things like unemployment benefits if no valid reason can be provided in court.

No rollback plan? Wtf.

It's more of an innovation than an invention, it seems. (nothing wrong with that, to be clear)
